Upcycled chairs

Posted by TheDocraftsTeam, 19 Jun, 2017

There’s nothing a splash of paint can’t transform. With a simple coat of colour, a postbox becomes iconic, a wall becomes a piece of art and your chairs become the latest must-have home accessory. Make sure your dining set is the talk of all your friends, with Artiste acrylics and the latest stencils.

1. Use a piece of sandpaper to remove all the lacquer from some coated wooden chairs. Pick your top colours from the range of Artiste Acrylic Paints; we used Sage, Pomegranate, Light Grey, Conifer Green, Metallic Copper and Blanc.

2. Paint each chair with a base coat of colour, leaving to dry fully between any additional layers. Section off parts to highlight different colours, using masking tape to achieve clean, straight lines.

3. Create stencils using Xcut dies, cutting from adhesive sheets. Make your own stencil on a sheet of acetate or cardstock. Carefully cut the design with a craft knife. Secure the templates to the seats of the chair and paint the gaps with a sponge. When dry, cover with a coat of varnish.
