DIY doggy bow tie

Posted by TheDocraftsTeam, 17 Oct, 2016

Your pup will be the talk of the dog park with this super-adorable canvas bow tie collar.

1. Cut the centre off a Papermania Bare Basics  Large Canvas Bow and iron the main section flat. Paint on your desired pattern in Papermania Fabric Paints. Snip a 6 x 1cm felt strip and sew the short edges together to create a new loop for the bow. Once the paint is dry, fold the canvas and feed through the felt loop.

2. Trim four pieces of canvas from the collar template in the sidebar and on page 93 of issue 70. Fold and sew the short edges on each piece to neaten. Take two pieces and sew the bottom and long vertical edges together. Turn through to the right side, press and topstitch, leaving the top and short edges open. Repeat with the other two pieces.

3. Cut a canvas panel to measure 20 x 5cm (or 2.5cm wider than the dog's collar you wish attach to). Press ½cm in on both long edges, fold in half and press again. Position the prepared collar pieces into the folded length and sandwich together. Topstitch in place to secure.

4. Arrange the finished bow centrally onto the completed collar and secure either by hand stitching or with a glue gun.
