Bare Basics jute coaster

Posted by TheDocraftsTeam, 10 Nov, 2016

The much-loved craft wire released in July’s Create Christmas collection has just been given a makeover, as Bare Basics brings us three new variants. The two-tone jute-covered wire adds a lovely rustic touch to home décor projects, such as this simple coaster.

1. Slightly unravel the coil of wire and start to curve it into a spiral shape. Keep working around the shape and building up the layers until it’s big enough to use as a coaster. (It may help to keep the shape in place with pegs as you go – the Papermania Chalkboard Pegs are big enough to hold a lot of the wire).

2. Thread a wide-eyed needle with thin Bare Basics jute and weave in and out of the rows of wire, starting from one edge and finishing at the opposite side. Knot each side off to secure. Do this several times so that you have around eight ‘segments’ in between stitching.

3. Die cut a circle of Xcut Xtras A5 Adhesive Cork Sheet and peel off the sticky backing. Adhere to the bottom of the coaster to finish.
